Taking Care Of Your Solar Powered Technology

One of the main attractions to our technology is the portability of it, and the ease at which we can remain connected, no matter where we are.

You can see lots of technology that you can use to power things, but you still need to charge these power banks in the first place. When travelling or camping you can remain connected to your technology by taking a solar blanket with you, which you can use to power all manner of different electrical items. To keep your solar blanket working to optimal levels, you will need to follow a few simple steps, set out below.

Handle With Care

When you bring solar blanket or other such devices when you travel or go camping, you will want to handle it with care, no matter how strong and robust the thing is. Make sure that if you even place a solar blanket on the ground that you are careful not to walk on it, or place heavy items on top of it. Most solar blankets are quite durable but putting too much pressure on the solar panels can damage them and reduce the efficiency of them. When packing your solar technology, ensure that they are always at the top, so they do not get crushed underneath your luggage and potentially get damaged.

Keep The Solar Panels Clean

If you want your solar technology to remain as efficient as possible, then you are also going to have to maintain and give the solar panels a clean every now and then, especially if you use them in dusty conditions. A build-up of dirt and grime on a solar panel will reduce its efficiency quite dramatically, and cleaning is a simple process. You will want to ensure that you do not use any harsh or abrasive substances and materials when you clean the panels, and you will also want to avoid using hard water (mineral rich). You can use some warm water with a mild detergent and wipe the solar panels clean with a sponge, which should be sufficient to get rid of the most stubborn stains. Make sure that you give a rinse of water to get rid of all of the soap, and then use a squeegee to dry the cells. Make sure that you read the maintenance instructions that come with your solar technology and use any recommended products that they endorse for cleaning their products.

Use The Device As Per The Manufacturer’s Instructions

Another way that you can maintain and increase the longevity of your solar powered devices including portable chargers is to ensure that you use it only as the manufacturer instructs.

With products such as solar blankets, to improve efficiency, you will want to try and place the solar blanket down at a 45-degree angle to the sun. Doing so will maximise the power that the cells can convert from the light, and for maximum efficiency, you will want to regularly change their position tracking the movement of the sun across the sky. With some careful maintenance and understanding of your product, you can keep it working efficiently for a long time to come!
