6 best ideas, activities, and resources for road trips with kids

I believe you can never enjoy the road trip in the absence of cranky kids and family whose laughter echoes in the car that keeps you lively and fresh throughout the journey.

Nothing has aspired me more than watching families hanging out together on the beach or a group of friends sharing laughter on the hiking track on their way to explore something new. Traveling with kids does not have to mean that you have to count the hours before you reach your destination in one piece. If you are well prepared, you can engage your kids in healthy activities that keep them involved so that they don't get bored and start disturbing you. This article will enlist six best ideas, activities, and resources for planning a road trip with kids.

1. Prepare activities for kids beforehand

The best strategy to keep your kids engaged during the long road trips is to arrange different activities for them and reveal one at a time. This will keep their spirits high, and they will be curious to know what the next activity is and what fun will it bring. Telling them about all the activities beforehand will kill the surprise, and they will lose their interest pretty fast.

2. Organize kid’s bags individually

Prepare each kids bag separately and organize it by making different sections. For example make one section for food, one of colors/drawing books, one for head phone and DVD player and one for games such as cards and puzzles, etc. This will firstly enable them to keep their personal things organized, and secondly, it will keep them engaged to discover each section and get involved in creative activities

3. Play their favorite movies/cartoons

The best way to keep your children entertained is carrying a set of their favorite movies on the journey and play them on their demand. You can even play their favorite audio books such as harry potter or kids book by Roald Dhal this would not only keep them engaged but also increase their listening and imagination power. Make sure that your car has the best speakers so that the children can easily listen and understand the story.

4. Personal iPods

Once you are traveling, make sure you download some good games enjoyed by your child so that when you are traveling they can access the games easily and you don't need to supervise them as they won't have access to online sites. The children can use the iPod to keep themselves busy by taking pictures on their way and sharing them with their friends on social media.

5. Let kids enjoy quality time

When you are traveling with your kids, it is necessary that you give children an open space at the back seat to play with their stuff and avoid them from diverting your attention from the drive. Giving your children freedom during the trip will strengthen their learning, and they would remember the things they witnessed on their journey by drawing the landscapes and things they loved on their drawing copies.

6. Create a small library in car

To create among your children the love for literature, it is the best idea to create a small colorful library and hang it at the back of the front seat and encourage your kid to read different kinds of story books and then narrate them to each other. Moreover, you can also keep books relating to the place you are going to visit. It will increase their interest and curiosity to discover the place.
