14 Feb The Ultimate List of Hashtags for Travelers
It is hard to get seen on Instagram without using hashtags. If you already have a big following and are satisfied with that then you don’t need to use many hashtags. You can use up to 30 hashtags per post and it is a good way to gain followers or to get traffic to your blog. When it comes to travel pictures on Instagram, the most important is to have an awesome picture.
However, it is also very important to tag the location and use relevant hashtags that describe the images. If you have no idea what hashtags to use, think about 30 words to describe the picture you want to post. It is not always the best idea to use the only #travel or #beach as hashtags were it is almost too popular to get seen, the more specific you are the better. Here is a list of some of my favourite hashtags. Remember, only use the ones that fit your post, not all of them.

When to post on Instagram
Most of my followers come from the US so I post when it is best times to post during the EST time zone. I have noticed it is good to post between 8 am to 9 am or after 7 pm – 9 pm. I try to post when people are not working or travelling home from work. After 7 pm is good if you want more followers or viewers on a video. I try to post once a day. And guys, please don’t post 10 photos at the same time. It clutters people’s feed and it is annoying. Try to spread them out.
Secret Trick
If you use around 20 hashtags when you publish the post, you can put 10 in the comments and you can after publishing putting 30 more in the actual post! It will be a lot of hashtags, but you can delete them afterwards.
Other tips to get an engaged audience
I don’t have a huge following. But I want to keep the followers I have engaged. I usually share an interesting story or information on the Insta post, not only the picture and lots of hashtags. People want to know why you were there, what you did and why people should go there. My best tips are to ask questions in the captions as well such as “Have you been there?” “Would you try this? “
Instagram visibility
You want to come on “top posts” of the hashtags you use or in the search option under videos you might like. Or even better, get featured on big accounts like @instagram or @passionpassport.
To gain more visibility the best thing you can do is to get comments on your posts as soon as possible and to tag users or brands you feature. You also need to be engaged yourself by liking, commenting and following accounts in your niche.
Don’t buy likes or followers! This is a big no-no, it will hurt your profile and people can tell if you do this. Worst of all, you lose potential clients where they can spot this. Focus on to gain an engaged and targeted and organic following.
If you want to get serious you should change to business account where you can look at the insights. You can also use apps as Iconsquare to look at specific insights and best times to post for when your followers are on Instagram.
Another tip is to put a related link in the bio when you post it, you can say check “link in bio”, be sure to have your business email in the bio as well so people can contact you if they want to do business with you 😉
Seeking to network with other Instagram travellers?
Check out these Facebook groups:
If you decide to join these groups you MUST read and follow the rules of the group and all the different threads. If you don’t do that, you can risk getting blocked out of the group.
After being on Instagram since 2012 I have understood how hard it is to get seen and get your photos liked and even harder for people to follow you. I have still not yet reached my goal and always looking to grow. My number one tips to be seen is to have amazing photos, of course, and be active. Comment and like people’s posts. And also have good hashtags that are targeted, but not too popular.
Do you have any other favourite travel hashtags? What is your Instagram strategy?

Posted at 14:54h, 15 FebruaryI like your tips and I agree with definitely not buying followers. I know of someone that did that recently and then they suddenly disappeared when Instagram does it’s cleanup.
Really good hashtags too. I am constantly changing and adjusting mine and also the hubs that I tag.
For engagement it also helps to engage with other accounts as you then start building a little community of your own.
